DataMirror expands Transformer Server availability DataMirror Corp DMC Shares issued 10,360,060 Apr 19 close $4.10 Tue 20 Apr 99 News Release Mr. Nigel Stokes reports DataMirror Corporation announces availability of expanded Transformation Server Version 4.2 for Microsoft SQL Server. DataMirror's award-winning enterprise data integration software features ODBC support for five new target databases running on Windows NT. Users can transform and integrate enterprise data with Microsoft FoxPro, dBase, Paradox, Lotus Notes and Oracle Lite. The new Transformation Server Administrator also provides full support for Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 integration with DB2, Oracle and Sybase across OS/390, OS/400 and Unix platforms. The company's NT customers want a revolution, they want to change the world. In the Internet era, NT customers need real-time enterprise data integration. They've told the company they need to share corporate data across the organization, enabling easy NT and Web access to data on UNIX, IBM AS/400 and S/390 computing environments. They want to publish and cache their enterprise data for on-line decision support and e-business applications. They are publishing legacy data on the Web, implementing on-line order fulfilment and self-service customer support. Essentially, the company's customers are using DataMirror software for building corporate and customer information portals. In addition to extended support for the most popular databases on Windows NT, Transformation Server for Microsoft SQL Server now includes several performance and ease-of-use enhancements. These added features include commitment control, column manipulation for Y2K compliance, and flexible command line support. Commitment control For Web applications, it is important that a set of database updates that comprise a single transaction are packaged and sent to the target system as a discrete unit. To maintain data integrity, all database updates that comprise a transaction must be applied to the Web target database at the same time. This Internet ready version of Transformation Server Version 4.2 provides commitment control, staging the database updates in a transaction and ensuring that they are not partially applied. All updates in a transaction are assembled at the source before being sent to the target Internet or intranet server. On the Web server, all updates in a transaction are received before they are applied to the database. Command line support To enhance flexibility and ease-of-use, users can issue commands either through the Transformation Server Administrator or by typing them at a command line prompt. Commands can be conveniently invoked in the target Web environment to assign and unassign specified tables, as well as copy table assignments from one source system identifier to another.
