Havana Republic Revenues up 207 Percent for First Two Months of Third Quarter

WESTON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 17, 1999--Havana Republic HVAR announced today that revenues for the first two months of the third quarter were up 207 percent as compared to the same period last year. The company also announced that it has completed the sale and first shipment of 6,000 units of its boxed-pressed cigars to both individuals and wholesalers and has aligned itself with a distributor for Eastern Europe.

Commenting on the announcement, Stephen Schatzman, president of Havana Republic said, "We are experiencing robust sales growth for the first two months of our third quarter from our existing store locations and have aligned ourselves with a distributor to expand our revenues in Eastern Europe.

We are also excited about the opening of our third major cigar emporium, our largest yet in Florida, at the end of April in the Shops at Sunset Place in Downtown South Miami. The Shops at Sunset Place, the hottest new development in South Florida, will have 600,000 square feet of retail space and will include such major anchor tenants as Niketown and Imax theatres."

Havana Republic is engaged in the business of owning and operating upscale cigar emporiums devoted to the sale of premium cigars and related merchandise

Sorry I didn't respond soon. I was busy at work.

I spoke to the President and IR a couple of days ago. I confirmed some other of your questions, yesterday.

A company representative stated that the existing clubs only sell cigars and associated cigar items, i.e. storage boxes, cutting devices, etc.. The new store, expected to open later this year will also have a liquor license to serve drinks.

It appears the company is executing their overall strategic plans very well.

I will provide you an overview at a later time.
