I agree. There is a sea change happening.

The calculations come from Bloomberg who provide this info for all major indices. For example the DJIA at the same time was being shown with a p/e of 25.70 and 21.42 (next yr est.).

All I can think of is that there are large cos. that are in the index with huge negative p/es resulting from losses that distort the overall average. One other consideration. Are Japanese reported earnings (or losses) the same as ours?
