could argue that Compaq is comparable to Sun Microsystems (the
systems company), Dell (the PC company) and IBM (services) rolled
into one, thus enabling Compaq to "own a customer."

Getting away from the box maker image, i like that

Aitch,
That is an analyst. He sees the Compaq core strategy and plan. He describes it clearly, and leaves out distracting details. I think the earnings estimates are conservative for 1999.
