SAMOA1 - A paper gain of $33.5 Million? ALDN owns 14% of WAVX according to cnnfn's "Market Guide." The report is current as of 3/13/99. Based on the chart on that page, WAVX has seen a huge increase in trading volume since January 1, 1999, and the stock has gone from $3 to $12. That means ALDN's interest appreciated from worth slightly less than $11.2 million to slightly more than $44.7 million (for an unrealized capital gain of $33.5 million) over the last three months. The other stock info posted there says: "Equity: Cl.A Common $.01 Par, 9/98, 50M auth., 26,621,411 issd. Insiders own 1%. Alladin [sic] Knowledge Systems owns 14%. IPO 9/94, 3,728,200 shs. @ $5 by Dickinson & Co. Cl.B $.01 Par, 13M auth., 3,997,438 issd. Insiders own 57%. (As of 12/97) LTD: $522K @ 10%. Ser. A Prfd. $.01 Par, 360 issd. Ser. G Conv. SAMOA1 - Uh, I pulled some more info. Hhhmmm. ALDN's PR for YrEnd '98 shows Total Assets of $59 mill of which $1.7 million are "marketable securities" and $24.2 million are "Other long term assets, net". Thus, ALDN's year end report does not include the unrealized gain in 1999 from WAVX. If that gain is added to YrEnd Assets, shareholders' equity jumps from $49.7 million ($4.82 per o/s 10,307,000 ALDN shr.)to $83.2 million ($8.07/shr.). All this info comes from my previous post reference and from www.aks.com postings (Aladdin's website). Hhhmmmmm. Harry PS - I'm not affiliated with ALDN or WAVX other than being a shareholder of ALDN. And I'm no accountant, either. Still -- hhhmmmmm.
