Maybe so, but if PA/VV wants a controlling interest he will have a tough time doing it on the open market. The net effect of trying to corner 54% of the outstanding shares is the inevitable increase in price of the balance of unacquired shares. IMO, he is far better off making a tender offer that represents a PREMIUM to the market price, and thereby acquiring a large block at one time. Often, tender offers specify that the offer is void if a specific number of shares are not received, and the purchaser is not left with an inadequate number of shares to control the company. JMO.

One final thought. Friday past there was much speculation as to why the stock ended the day so strongly on a bad net day. Some suggested a split other high profile commentators suggested that it was obviously the boxing trunks. Let me suggest that someone was in the market armed with the news to come on Monday. Vulcan/PA? others ie could Mr. Allen been buying on the open market last week? It will be interesting to see the SEC filing once it is out

nord,

What I'm wondering is if PA was a heavy buyer of call options in the stock before the initial runup?

What better way to accumulate that stake than to take delivery by excercising the call options.

It also might have accounted for some of the initial run-up we saw just before the announcement with PA.
