Lucent Technologies to Buy Tata Stake in India's Tata Telecom
Mumbai-Lucent Technologies Inc of the US has proposed to buy out India's leading industrial group the Tatas' stake in Tata Telecom Ltd.
Although they confirmed "discussions" with Lucent, sources said that no deal had been struck, according to a daily, The Hindu Business Line. The proposal to sell the Tata stake has also not been laid out and everything is still in the discussion stage, sources said. At present, Lucent and the Tatas are equal partners in Tata Telecom, with each holding about 25 percent stake.

"LU's 1Q revenue line spooked many large investors who have been on the sidelines waiting for more information. Furthermore, shorts have been sowing the seeds of doubt about the quality of LU earnings based on some shoddy analysis done by an outfit called the Center for Financial Research and Analysis."

Jim Cramer was on CNBC this morning and he said that as far as he's concerned, LUCENT was a miss last quarter. He added that if they show something this quarter he may get back in but right now he's out.

Apparently there was somebody else on CNBC this past Friday that also had some things to say about LUCENT's accounting practices which didn't do the company any good in the eyes of investors.
