Most 'Independant Analysts' are anything but. 'Collaborative Research' is a small 'independant analyst' that is just a couple of guys in an office above a Chinese restaurant in Los Altos, CA. According to one of their principals, Peter Christy, "We're basically mercenaries". They are notoriously bad, and are mostly used by companies to write 'ringer' articles that they try to get into feature sections of second-tier publications. At least the Chinese food is good. Don't put too much credence in any analyst that doesn't have a known reputation s.a. Gartner, Forrester, Acuitive. Regards, - Jer
