Alcatel, 3COM to develop handheld computing products Reuters - 09:16 a.m. Mar 17, 1999 Eastern HANOVER, Germany, March 17 (Reuters) - France's Alcatel said on Wednesday it was in cooperation with 3COM of the United States to develop handheld computing products which it expects to reach customers this year. ''The cooperation between the two companies...is expected to result in products to customers this year,'' Alcatel said in a statement at the CeBIT technology trade show. ''The two companies intend to cooperate through an open public forum to define a standard application programme interface (API) between any handheld computing device and any mobile phone or telecommunication terminal,'' it said.
