Chaosad,

Could you please elaborate on the U.S. Monroe Doctrine regarding South America? Then, why the U.S. play the police officer in the Chinese suburbs? If fascist Serbs can reclaim Kosovo, why is it that continental China can't reclaim Taiwan? Why Saddam can't reclaim Kuwait? And why the Palestinians can't reclaim Jerusalem --or at least the whole of the West Bank?

As a superpower the United States can't retrench themselves from the world conflicts --don't fool yourselves about that! You've tried this in 1914-18, 1940-45, but such a splendid isolation is no longer sustainable. The U.S. still need foreign markets to keep their economic fabric up and running, whether they are imported commodity-markets (Middle East oil, Congolese cobalt, South African gold,...) or export markets (European Union, South America,...). In short, the U.S. are not thriving on some other planet somewhere in a remote galaxy!
