Boca Research Announces New Sales Channel with E-Commerce on Corporate Web Sites; New Services Follow Complete Revamping of Web Sites BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 17, 1999--Boca Research, Inc. (Nasdaq:BOCI) today announced new e-commerce availability on the Company's Web sites, www.bocaresearch.com and www.globalvillage.com. Customers will be able to purchase products from Boca Research's entire family of Windows(R)-based 56K Fax/Data modems and networking products. GlobalFax(TM) faxing software for Apple(R) iMac(TM) and Power Macintosh(R) G3 series computers will be available from the Global Village(R) Web site. "As a leading-edge communications manufacturer, we must continue to seek and utilize new technological tools that enhance the way we do business in today's global marketplace," stated Navroze Mehta, executive vice president and general manager, Boca Research. "We recognize our corporate Web sites as an excellent opportunity not only for the Company to generate additional revenue, but also for our customers to obtain information that will help them make informed purchasing decisions," Mehta concluded. Both e-commerce Web sites will be secured by SSL (Secured Sockets Layer) encryption technology software to safeguard sensitive customer and billing related information transferred over the Internet. Credit card billing transactions will be provided by CyberSource(R) Corporation's On-Demand Commerce Applications services. In December 1998, the Boca Research and Global Village Web sites were revamped in order to deliver enhanced company and product information in an easy-to-navigate format. Customers can now maneuver from product information and purchase locations to technical support areas with just a couple of clicks. Investors can obtain detailed corporate information by viewing white papers and reading the latest company news. To ensure the development, maintenance, and future enhancements of these newly designed Web sites, Boca Research has dedicated a full-time Webmaster to ensure that up-to-date corporate information is easily obtainable. In late April, Boca Research will be adding a special area on its Web sites dedicated to value-added resellers (VARs), distributors, and retailers. This new area will be password protected and contain current information on pricing, special promotions, and other channel specific related materials.
