It is always difficult for bears to prevail strictly on the basis of research. Chanos found that out early in his career with a little annuity company accounting problem when he went up against the bullish Merrill Lynch analyst. Time usually tells, but not always. As long as companies have access to capital (through equity and debt offerings), superior financial analysis often comes to naught.

Until the weight of the inverted pyramid becomes so great . . .
