The NY Times is reporting that concerned that some investors may be getting key stock information before the rest of the market, federal securities regulators are
considering tightening disclosure rules so that companies will be forced to announce news to all investors at the same time.

The regulators' review, which is expected to take eight or nine months, could result in new disclosure rules for public companies. The commission may require, for example, that companies issue news releases with any significant new information that they plan to tell analysts or certain investors at invitation-only meetings or during conference calls that are not open to the public, according to the report. nytimes.com
