The commercial only needs to be memorable.

John, I liked the Flash demo as a commercial. The real commercial is funny and good but I don't think it enhances our branding very much unless you can afford to do a Budweiser style ad campaign. There is not enough linkage of the Voodoo box and the technology for my tastes. Where does the commercial assert that TDFX is the leader, runs the most games and is the fastest card available?

The details you are asking for are not the information 3dfx wants to get to the public. They are saying fastchip-games-3dfx. Anything else dilutes the message and will baffle much of the public.

Pick a random OEM customer and ask them what video card is in their computer and they simply won't know. Most won't have much idea what it does. I used to sell computers to people who would ask if they really needed a video card or not.

Put a little name recognition into the head of that "do I need one?" customer and they'll pick from the OEM column that says "3dfx" among the bullets. Yes the non-savvy customers do go over those bullets carefully before buying. In my experience they don' understand them too well, but they've gone over them carefully, none the less. They don't like to see stuff missing from their prospective purchase, especially if it's got a brand name they recognize.

I am O U T.

I sold all of my TDFX today. 40% loss.

Lots of good things happening for TDFX, but when has that ever changed the stock price?

I'll be buying a Voodoo 3, watching this board and wishing you longs the best.
