Blacksmith - I am not sure which stocks you weren't able to get today but there were only about 5 we couldn't find. It is very likely that 3 of the 5 were the three you asked about.
When a stock is unavailable, its most likely going to be unavail the next day and for sometime as well, until a position comes into the clearing firm.

Yet you should know when we find stock unavail. we go through a few fairly exhaustive steps to get it. First we call Pershing, our clearing house, then we call DLJ, then MASh and NITE, two of the largest market makers in the NASD.

As well, we have relationships with most house on the street. We CANNOT call each and everyone. Outside the above four, we ask our clients to tell us if they know of anyone that IS getting it, that a freind got some at "XXXY" firm. We then call that firm and can get it too.

So, while I apologize we've gone 0 for 3, 1) it might just be you';re asking for the same stocks which over the course are unavailb for the stretch 2) you're asking for the toughest stocks which simply arent there and 3) tell us where it is available, and we'll go there and get it for you.
