You won't get a fire-breathing 500MHz screamer, but for lots of people a 333MHz Pentium gets the job done just fine. So how can companies afford to give away PCs? There's so much money in Internet-based services, and such a scramble to sign up customers, that companies are drooling over the prospect of getting you hooked.
