But I do think that the words of others during childhood can make one lose confidence and become shy, too, and it is likely the same sorts of words that do both. (Though they are finding shyness genes, I understand.)

Funny you should mention the gene thing. I used to spend hours with a friend discussing things like this. He had shyness problems also. His was worse than mine, because he used to break into a cold sweat just by leaving his house. I got a lot better, while he has not. The main difference? He blames himself, and I blame the environment. I always hoped they would disprove this gene thing, because it gives him another excuse to blame himself.

>>>>>Stephen Hawking got a girlfriend<<<<<

Try got married. Someone, can't remember who, Germaine Greer? stated that stronger depiction of the difference between men and women was beyond her, and I agree. I can't imagine a man marrying a woman with such devastating disability, despite the enormous intelligence. Not when Ms. Baywatch Boobs was around.

Actually, Hawking used up one wife and got another one.
