Actually, $6 billion for ATT isn't all that much.<g>
Japan is scheduled to issue 100 times that amount
or 71 trillion yen which is $592 billion at
a 120yen/$ rate by March 2000. Their budget
deficit will be in excess of 10% of GDP and public
debt well above 100% GDP.

While Japan is still bigger than ATT, they better
not stumble again or they could be taken over by
an Inut.

Don't have the figures, but it has been very high. Delightfully, much of it has been used to buy back stock. Brilliant move. Sell paper to the public at "X", buy it back at 5"X", using borrowed money. (g)
