This was told to me with a perfectly straight face by the same lady who told me that Hurricane Camille was caused by the first moon landing. Put the moon out of its orbit, you see. A neighbor of my grandmother in Biloxi. Later, I found out that red ants were accidentally imported here in some Chinese houseplants, I think it was in the 1930s. I don't pretend to know everything, so I'll look it up, but that's what I remember. She would have been full-grown before they showed up.

Edit: accidentally imported from South America, but I got the 1930's part right. Golly, I love the web!
