Mike:

There is no doubt in my mind that your options exp. theory is correct. I had a limit order in today to buy at 42 1/2 as I saw the writing on the wall at about 3:30 as orders in size to sell were hitting my screen. The MMs tried their hardest to drive DELL down at the close as many large orders to sell 20-50,000 share blocks were scrolling across my screen in the final minutes of trading. DELL did not reach 42 1/2 today but I think it might tomorrow. I see DELL trading around this 42 1/2-44 range through Friday and, if the past is any prediction of the future, I think we will move up strongly next week barring any unforseen cicumstances.

As as aside, I do not necessarily see the DELL executive filings to sell stock as a negative. Perhaps they are anticipating a nice pop in the stock in the coming weeks and they will be all lined up to sell into the strength. Can't fault them for trying to get the highest price for the hard earned stock options.
