Marlow, You suggest that the Nullsoft user base is worth much more than MP's (petty) damage claim. These plaintiff's lawyers are not paid to be conservative when they estimate a claim for damages. Wonder what they were thinking? I think your possible scenarios are realistic if PM is so easily appeased. But if PM's copyright claim is upheld, it could still negotiate harsh royalty terms for future Nullsoft downloads. And whatever the value of present Winamp userbase, I imagine it is only the very tip of the iceberg. I reiterate that if these claims are upheld, PM becomes the prize, not Nullsoft. Yet, I would imagine that PM would have the same incentives to remain independent that RNWK has. (See article above). As for BCST, I have seen too many pioneers wind up with arrows in their backs. I fear Mark is not paranoid enough. He said in a recent interview that he doesn't have the prettiest website in the world. He didn't seem at all defensive about this. Rather, he suggested that this is not what is important. Well, after seeing RealGuide, I think he ought to start being concerned. B2B is wonderful. NetRoadshow is nice. I think V-Call is even better. I still need convincing about the barriers to entry. I want to hear more about the unique advantages of his network. As this field heats up, I see ITVU and others executing in the B2b space. I know it is not his style, but I say he needs to be more paranoid. Sam
