About the 3:1 split: I think it would have been hard to go from a disappointing 'no split' decision just last week to an unexpected 3:1 split announcement "overnight." Like many others here, I was thinking a 3:1 would have made sense last week. I listened to the CC which I believe is still available I believe on the CMGi Investor Relations page with a RealPlayer. It's long but very informative despite some repititive and the off the mark questions. As I mentioned in an earlier post #5936, DW commented at the CC that they did not want to do split as a means to "manipulate or control" the stock price. Barry Diller made accusations to that effect in an article in last Friday's WSJ (3/12/99), page B1 and 4. The article characterized the clash between 'old media' Diller and 'new media' Wetherell with DW quoted as saying 'old media needs Lycos more than Lycos needs old media' -- a sentiment shared by most shareholders and most on this thread.

After the announcement afterhours last Friday about CMGi's selection to the NAZ 100, the thinking seemed to be that CMGi would probably delay any split announcement until after that took place -- tomorrow -- and was "digested" by the market.

I'm delighted with the news -- and definitely will accept the extra shares !!! -- but I'm still a little surprised and puzzled about the timing considering the CC last week and the NAZ 100 change tomorrow.

At post split level of 100 + +, obviously prospects for split in the next quarter or soon after, also look good.

More than enough reasons to celebrate and anticipate more good things to come --
