Today's news release had one sentence that is real encouraging: "During the summer of 1998, till sampling on the Hilltop property revealed one microdiamond and several concentrations of indicator minerals, some associated with kimberlite fragments that may have originated from more than one kimberlite source". We have diamonds and possibly more than one source. Go ahead RT, give snap away for $20 and lets go for the real money.

20 Bucks? Hmmmm I wonder what Placer Dome would pay for this company if it were sitting on 30 million ounces of gold at 1 ounce per tonne.
My guess is about $35 or $40.
I think a Bid will develop but it will not be until grades are a sure thing. If Debeers wants it, a couple of Billion dollars is not a lot for them. They spend half that on advertising each year. Why why make a Billion dollar bid until not only you know they have the goods but what the value of those goods are.

Why sell at $20 and pay capital gains tax when the dividend alone will be very attractive.

That's a bold assumption that you're making. The assumption that the separation will be accomplished before the take-over bid I mean.
The split is going to take at least three months judging from past experience, and the degree of confusion about which exchange will be consulted or in control.
