MAIL: Would like to bring a new stock to the thread, Messagemedia, Inc. (MAIL). This company is involved in a very interesting area that has great growth potential on the Internet - targeted e-mail. This isn't spam. It's about helping companies find out what kind of information its customers want to receive, then using tools to target them with e-mails that help retain and upsell customers. As an example of this, I buy laptops from insight.com. I get targeted e-mails from them that I usually read, and don't just toss. I once actually ordered some equipment based on a special I saw on one of these promos. The fundamentals don't appear to be all that favorable on their own, but I think the company's stock has done very well in the last few months after it refocused in this area, and I think it could go up parabolically if it keeps building momentum. The concept itself is starting to get a lot of attention from the general market and that alone could make the stock take off. There have also been several new executives brought on board recently and I believe it is quite possible that some new announcements on alliances and strategy could be soon forthcoming. I've got a moderate position and am still doing DD to decide whether to buy more. Here's the Hoover's profile: MessageMedia has a new theme. The company has refocused its business on messaging systems for Internet commerce. MessageMedia is pushing its Interactive Messaging Platform, a scalable system that enables companies to integrate sales and marketing functions into e-mail messages to their customers. It automatically routes incoming e-mail to the appropriate representatives and tracks outgoing responses. Users can also create marketing campaigns based on previous e-mail responses. MessageMedia (formerly First Virtual Holdings) has discontinued its Internet payment system and handed those customers off to CyberCash. SOFTBANK owns a majority stake in the company. Phil
