Dale:

I've held an extremely low opinion of Compaq's management for a couple of years, primarily because it has neither scruples nor principles. It lied last year, it lied this year, and presumably it will continue to do so until it falls beneath the weight of its own stupid decisions.

This one takes the cake. Only a couple of weeks ago, we had the same thing,....an analysts' meeting, to which the public and press were conveniently not invited. Of course the SEC yaps but never bites.

This disgusting behaviour, both on the part of the company and the involved "analysts" (and I use the term as it is beginning to be interpreted, as an insult), is no more nor less than what we might expect. They are a disgrace.

No doubt you caught the company's CEO telling the world that he does not think the internet stocks are over-valued. One more blatant example of his arrogance,....(if I, the CEO of mighty Compaq so state, then the great unwashed will no doubt believe it). I think the man needs to check the pressurization system on the company jet. He is suffering the delusions associated with lengthy periods at high altitudes with minimal oxygen. Hypoxia does strange things to the human mind.

Best, Earlie
