My connection is dead slow (3rd world!); I can't keep up with the posts. Just been sitting around planning Joey's birthday party. Did the invitations from a list provided by the school, just realized that in his class of 20, there are kids of 8 different nationalities. I like that. You folks have been having much more fun. Not as much fun as Chris would have, if he would just submit to his destiny....

There are two ways to eat a pastry. One (and the norm) is to narf it down in one lightning orgiastic blur of now-now-now. Intense - but so brief and aesthetically incomplete. The other (and something of a vanishing art) is to neatly carve little bites out with a fork and one at a time lick them up, get the full taste of each one, sweet and tart and aromatic, and let the experience become a long sustained celebration of sensuality. Like a cat licking cream out of a cup. I am a cat.
