Corel has typically seen sales of its software fall off dramatically when new versions are due out. But, O'Reilly noted, this was the first time it found itself with both of its flagship software products facing the end of their life cycles at the same time, with new versions due out in just weeks.

Sounds like poor planing to me! With a loss in market cap of $119 Can. Corel becomes more and more like a takeover candidate. No wonder they decided to enact a poison pill the last month. With Hummingbird taking over a bunch of companies, and many US companies on the prowl!!

With a current market cap of $180M US$ and average yearly sales of $160-$200M US$, seems like a cash cow to me! How much change do I have in my pockets, let's see 35 cents CAN$. Let's get all the pocket change out and make a hostile takeover (for the hostile part, we would have to get Vanni, et. al. to get on board).

With the cost of the Gala, and Corel's sponsorship of the 'Corel Center' (hockey arena), they could save a few million a year in spending.

Ciao!
