diller's probability of getting lcos is increased by delaying the lcos vote on the deal. based on the fairly widespread belief that a substantial correction in internet stock prices is probable in the may-july period (IMHO), the price of lcos could drop as much as 50% if such a correction occurs. well within the range of diller's deal.

Appreciate the acknowledgement, George.

David W.'s no Dennis Rodman. CMGI's conference call split banter (4 "foul shots," I believe) was spontaneous--almost naive--on the one occasion when management engaged a slick question (regarding share authorization). It doesn't seem possible David could have known (or even guessed) that a S&P-100 listing was imminent. Thus, he was sincere in his "no split" responses.

Barry "The Godfather" Diller very shrewd, aggressive. Pretty common to try to build in "downside" protection, but not always possible. Media attention now larger than life (LCOS=Internet poster child), but obvious LCOS deal was rushed--leaving no time to develop "sales pitch." If presented as LCOS acquisition of USAI assets (virtually same terms), Street might have loved it.

BAM

P.S. Hard to appreciate that Diller's building an e-commerce juggernaut (with blessing of VO). Many more acquisitions to come, but LCOS shareholders cutting him no slack.
