Ron, I know exactly what you mean, though I also have a hard time expressing it. Having lived abroad for many years, I really shudder when I see some of the stuff that finds its way into print. Some of the paranoid talk we've been referring to is a case in point: when you look at the overwhelming American superiority in virtually every kind of military hardware, and the huge American military network around the world, and the way some Americans react to any hint of anybody else's moving to establish themselves in that arena, it is easy to see why we make other countries nervous. In our own minds we are automatically the good guy. We have to understand that in other people's minds this is not automatic, and that other people are as entitled to pursue their own interests as we are.
