>What do you think of the GBLX/FRO merger?<

What? Another attempt at being a one-stop-shop solution for businesses? Hmm.

Let's put it this way: It didn't pop up on my screen like an M-80 as one of those obvious why-didn't-I-think-of-it-first things.

It's got its merits, I'm sure, but it also has a down side. I wonder if the company would have done this if they had a few more pure play competitors out there at this time who were also draping the ocean's mountain peaks with silica strands.

The way I see it, their mission is now confused, diluted, in effect, because it now eliminates the pure play aspect of their former come-one- come-all personality. Instead, I now see it potentially pitting would-be carrier- and ISP- customers against them, on the underwater side. They will, in effect, be competing with their largest potential customers.

I suppose the overall climate has changed, though, in this anything goes world. But, has it changed that much? It really isn't all that bad as long as there are no more oceangoing pure plays on the horizon. But that wont last forever.

It'll all sort out over time, but in the meantime, I'm a little baffled by it. It takes away from a focus that itself was extremely demanding, and it dilutes their original mission to some extent, which I had originally thought was actually a rather brilliant play. Frank_C.
