I admit I have not tried short-term flipping of mutual funds myself but I remember asking Royal specifically about this a few months ago and they said their family of funds could be bought and sold anytime with no transaction fees. If anyone has evidence this has changed it would be interesting to hear of it.

Also I heard on CNBC recently that the US broker Jack White allows shorting of mutual funds.
