Not sure about the economics, but since when has that stood in the way. Absolutely. Don't know why it's taken this long. After all, if one kid from Brooklyn can do it, so can another.

Interesting, there's a better discussion of GBLX/FRO here at LVLT than at GBLX.

I thought it was brilliant to go after terrestrial networks after locking in the deals and infrastructure to do the hardest part, ie, undersea. As a wholesale player on both terrestrial and undersea networks they could make a heck of a pitch to almost every regional carrier, ISP, IXC, and CLEC on the planet. They can still do that but the additional chore of managing a retail strategy which competes aggressively at the retail level with their best customers makes almost no sense to me. I guess once an AT&T guy, always an AT&T guy...
