Lynn: When you made your comment that I hadn't read your post 53869 carefully, you referred me back to the question you asked IR from that post -

Q: During my previous call I was told CPQ could issue an earnings warning in a news
release . Can it make a news release if it expects to exceed earnings estimates?

A: Yes

Now, you're referring me post 53148 which you made on 3/12 to show you asked if CPQ could warn during the quiet period -

CPQ can make a press release about earnings. To be specific, I asked about issuing warnings during the quiet period. I was told that CPQ can issue warnings about not expecting to meet estimates but that any warning has to be via a company news release.

You are talking about two different calls to IR. You did, between the two calls, ask all of those questions, but my comments were regarding your call this morning so your suggestion that I didn't read your post carefully is bullsh*t.

The point is (and that is what we're trying to establish, isn't it??) that Compaq can issue a press release any time they want saying they will either beat, meet, or miss estimates. They are choosing not to do so because they either really don't know or they are STOOOPID!
