There are certain areas where todays teams and players do not live up to the standards of their predecessors. The two that come to mind are free throw shooting and reliance on the medium range jump shot as an offensive weapon. Today it is dunks and 3 point bombs.

Today's game is much more physical and athletic. With all that physical ability, players do not need to rely so much on fundamental passing, defense, and ball handling skills. The games are still fun to watch though.

The sport where I have really noticed a deterioration of fundamental skills is baseball.
