I agree- and by the way, the daughter of a dear friend, the valedictorian of her class, is--as we speak!-- visitng Tulane and Vanderbilt. I've always thought it was an excellent school and I'm impressed. But then, I'm impressed that you did what you did anyway.
Dan did both undergrad and law at Washington and Lee- (Hahvahd of the South) but wouldn't again do his law in the same place. It seemed to count against him when he wanted to teach. That's when they want to see the big names. And my old roomie went on from U of R to MIT for her PhD. She thinks the education there is fine. I would hate for him to go to a place like UT where the classes are 150 people and taught by a TA.
