Dear Murrey: Yes, but they have to pay UNCLE SAM a portion of their previous profits. While I know its tempting to lock in profits numerous studies have shown the buyer who holds wins out in the long term. Seems to me if one is concerned about a price drop can merely sell Covered Calls. If price does in fact drop then you offsett the premium from your original basis. If instead it goes up, well you are no worse off than if you sold PLUS you get the premium. Now, in this stratagy I am presuming the holder in fact does wish to own the stock long term. JDN
