...in the US, not only do we have one of the longest life expectancies in the world, but also cheap and healthy food. We never had a mad cow scare, but we have had problems with bacteria contaminated meat, which has killed people. We aren't hung up about this, and have taken scientific steps against this. There are no 100 percent assurances, but we live with that.

The question is, where would we be without advanced technology? My life expectancy would not be what it is now.

I just wonder if there will be so much opposition to GM when we figure out how to genetically alter mushrooms to smell and taste like truffles or can genetically create and raise truffles commercially? I doubt the consumers of pate de fois gras will care one wit.
