Re: Flash vs. Clik! cost comparisons

In the press release which started this latest discussion, the company talks about an 80MB CompactFlash device which costs $200 in OEM quantities. They also mention a 128MB device, but don't give a cost.

If you assume that the 128MB device would retail for around $325, which is being generous, the cost comparison works out like this:

1 Clik! drive for digital cameras costs $249, if you pay full pop, and comes with 1 disk. For $325, I could get the Clik! drive and 7 disks. Total of 320MB of storage. I can then add storage in increments of 40MB for 10 bucks each.

If I wanted to add another 128MB of Compact Flash, I could spend another $325. Total $650 for 256MB of storage. But I get 64MB more for my first $325 with Clik!.

There. I've included the cost of the drive in my comparison. As I always do.
