U.S. money market mutual fund assets rose in week

WASHINGTON, March 18 (Reuters) - Total money market mutual fund assets in the week ended March 17 rose to $1.456 trillion from $1.455 trillion the prior week, an industry trade group said Thursday.

The Investment Company Institute said assets of the nation's retail money market mutual funds increased $2.89 billion to $867.89 billion in the week.

Of the retail funds, assets of the taxable money market funds rose by $3.01 billion to $715.60 billion, while assets of the tax-exempt funds decreased by $111.1 million to $152.29 billion, the group said.

ICI said assets of the institutional money market funds decreased by $1.93 billion to $587.98 billion. Of these, assets of the taxable
money market funds fell by $2.34 billion to $539.03 billion, while assets of the tax-exempt funds increased by $407.6 million to $48.94
billion, it said.
