Robert, are you sure about your number? the last numbers I saw was about a billion bucks for a 20,000 wafer start per month, including mortar bricks, and hema filters (VBG). I have not the slightest how much of that budget is in the infrastructure and how much in the equipment, but if history is any guide, permits will be 10% (Tongue in cheek).

I think that the problem is that these shells (including the Lahi) are not being stuffed anytime soon.

One thing that bothers me is that, so far, there are only 5 new fabs planned for 1999. In going to smaller geometries, are the semi companies revamping existing facilities?
