1)"The figure is five percent below the January 1999 level"
didn't think this line was too bad.

2)"and is 40 percent below the February 1998 level of $1.4 billion."
didn't think this line was good at all.

3)"The bookings figure is 22 percent below the February 1998 level of $1.2 billion."
and I don't care much for this line either

Now will somebody who knows something about this please give it a better critique<g>.
One more thing, how can an analyst really believe Intel will come in with revenues 3% shy of qtr 4? why not 2%, why not 4%, I mean really now, do they have a clue at Intel's investment profits as well as a zillion other things going on inside Intel. Intel already said flat to down a bit.

john,>>>Kumar expected that he expects Intel's revenues to be down 3% sequentially from 4Q...and it appears he is leaving his consensus estimate the same....Any idea if Kumar's view is seen as good, bad, or indifferent here?? <<<

I will take it. If Kumar is right then Y-O-Y comparison would look something like this:

1Q98 1Q99e Change

Revs 6001 7385e + 23%

Eps .72 1.06/1.15e + 47/62%

Normally numbers like this would constitute a blowout and the stock would rocket. But, Intel is not a normal stock. It's almost like in the old westerns - when Intel - the Top Gun only wants to pet his horse and get on with business, but there all kinds of bad guys, dressed in black, who try to gun down the Top Gun and make a reputation for themselves. In this case, there are all kinds of people with small put bets on Intel spinning like crazy - the world is coming to an end - and create a bad climate and bad sentiment causing any kind of bad news (like Ruben resigning) in general to cause weak hands (like Cramer) to sell like crazy.

Who knows, we will see.
