Barry - Re: " I used to look forward every year to the
new model car introductions. "

Speaking of NEW MODELS, yesterday I saw the neatest looking desktop PC ever.

It was the Sony Model LCV-600.

The "case" was perhaps 3 inches high, 10 inches wide, maybe 12 inches deep.

On top of this tiny case was a 14.1 inch TFT LCD display with integrated stereo speakers. The display was mounted to its base by an articulated linkage allowing the entire display to be laid flat on top of the main case for display - when not in use.

The keyboard had a built in wrist-rest that unfolded into a cover to cover up the keyboard when not in use.

The entire package was not much bigger than two notebook computers stacked on top of each other !

And on the inside? LOADED !

A Pentium III - 500 MHz.
128 Meg DDRAM
10.4 Gig Hard Drive
56K Modem
CDROM/DVD Drive
Floppy Disk
Mouse (Plugs into the keyboard)

The price, at $2999, seem high but that beautiful display was probably worth $1000 by itself, implying the computer itself cost about $2000.

This was an engineering and design MARVEL - definitely a MODEL worth waiting for.

This was definitely "not you father's white box".
