Joe, Funny you should mention Sprig. For those that don't know sprig is another name for a pintail duck. All good sportsman can tell what type of duck is flying by at a hundred yards.
Also all good sportsmen hunt with dogs. My Old Yellow Dog has a couple of thousand retrieves under his belt and some of those were birds he retrieved for guys who didn't have a dog with them and they had lost the bird.
The Old Yellow Dog's mother was my dog also. All dogs are different just like people. She was all business, a great hunting yellow lab, her name was "Sprig" and she had some great litters of yellow dogs. I had her and her sister "Misty", who I loved so much I can't think of her or talk about her to this day. My X-wife "lost" Misty, I divorced my X a short time later.
Two of the things I love the most in the world, I had the honor of bringing into the world. I delivered the Old Yellow Dog and his litter mates (his Mom did most the work) and I delivered my Daughter (her Mom did most the work). I am a lucky man.
I've been hooked on labs for years as in Colorado we will hunt ducks and geese in the morning and the go after pheasants during the day. They are a great all around dog and this is just my opinion but they make the best family dog there is. 909 BLUE
