We are not sure why countless advertisers have employed the British theme. But we do know that some Americans believe that the British have superior taste. Most millionaires are not impressed with kings and queens or princes or princesses.

There is a common syndrome called "status and prestige by blood."

In America, however, one's own achievements are to be respected.

Certainly there are people who convince themselves that they are superior to others via association. In other words, even though you are not Churchill, you wear his suit; you are not of royal blood, but you drive a Land Rover; you cannot play golf, but you have a set of the "master clubs;" and you are not wealthy, but you look so very prosperous. Is this silly? Of course it is.
