Moscow--Mar 19--Russia is expected to produce 106 tonnes of gold this year,
7% less than in 1998, but the output is likely to increase to 125-130
tonnes in 2000, a jump of 18-23%, Chairman of the Union of Gold Producers
Valery Boiko said. He added that the decline in production was caused by
the fact that the government stopped financing gold producers in 1998,

Dallas Gold and Silver Exchange announced that its auction and person-to-person trading Web site for jewelry, fine watches, diamonds and precious metal products has experienced dramatic growth for the year-to-date period. Revenue generated through March 15 is five times the revenue generated for all of fiscal 1998. The company did not release a specific dollar figure. The company is a jewelry wholesaler and retailer that sells through a Dallas superstore and the Internet.
