It is still playing around with the 142 resistance level despite the triple witching options expiration. This stock usually moves up during options as short sellers of the stock and options cover. That hasn't happened this time. Maybe some covering will occur toward the end of the day - similar to the move in January. It doesn't look likely.

Wal-Mart has moved up significantly lately - a sign that money is flowing into safer bets?

News of better than expected sales results could cause Amazon to break through the resistance level. It has received a few new or reiterated buy recommendations lately but that hasn't broken the resistance. What will it take? If sales don't exceed xpectations by a fair margin, then Amazon will head down after earnings are released, IMO. But if sales greatly exceed expectations, the stock will charge ahead.
