Volatility and the Internets..Investor's Business Daily March 2, 1999.... Please memorize this.. When the market rallies, good quality, highly volatile stocks can do wonders for a portolio. The stocks
will move up faster than others, but the sword cuts both ways. When the market falls, volatile issues can come down fast.

Investors in volatile stocks must make quick buy and sell decisions. they must expect sharp moves in short periods of time. YOU SHOULD BE READY TO
TAKE LARGE GAINS in short periods. IF anyone got on WEBT near the end of their upward cycle it was inevitable that the stock would finally succumb to spectacular gains. ... Generally, a big increase in volatility after an advance or decline is the first sign the move is near an end. This is probably the entry of 'latecomers' into the high flying stock.

<<ALERT>> I would NOT be selling CCL or YUM on this strength but I would be thinking of taking profits in BSX and BKS. I am long ERTS for the better part of 1998-99 and still bullish on this one.. Bullish on NTAP which is continuing its uptrend. NTAP was an earnings play that is coming back for more. POWI has been a powerhouse in the last few trading sessions. A word on options: I would have done very nicely on NKE if my strategy had just zeroed in on the stock and not the option. Although my NKE options were 'resurrected' in the last possible moment wiping out most of my loss it will still end up "even" at best. Had I entered NKE -the stock- I would have now been up over 2k.. I probably should have gotten NKE April calls but the lesson here is that the stock is usually a better 'bet' than the option in most cases, especially if the stock is still priced below 60-70.. Of course for the NSOL's, CMGI's, GNET's, you might want to get a few calls for leverage since they are pricey.
