****REASONS FOR SO MANY STOCKS ON THE INDEX; SEE HERE******

A few members have asked, "why are there so many stocks on the INDEX ?"; the answer is simple: the original 'charter' of the INDEX was to select stock picks by SI members (on a weekly basis), and to delete others in an attempt to form a 'core' portfolio (which hopefully will stand the test of time). This is a sifting process. We try-out (and add) new picks which are on an uptrend (and hopefully can STAY there), and delete others which have had their week of glory and eventually fade into the sunset.

I have de-listed stocks and re-listed them and then de-listed them again. That's because I'm always trying to figure out (according to your posts and my own dd), which stocks can stay on the INDEX for the long haul (by giving each stock every benefit of the doubt).

In the last 2 months, I have found 14 stocks which will stay on the INDEX for the forseeable future. The rest may come or go based on news, your interest, and their overall performance.

I hope this clarifies the strategies I've tried to employ...I truly appreciate your on-going contributions and so far, together we've been able to form an INDEX that is up 26% as of Friday's close. The best is yet to come.....LOL...sw
