Debra, thanks for mentioning that particular Mozart tape. I have some for my daughter and she loves them. I haven't listened to it while I'm doing stocks. Might help me focus better!~ Katy

I think I'll be getting some classical cd's this weekend.. Yo would not believe the 'noise' they call music tht comes out of my son's room. Allowing for divergent tastes and cultures, the 'rap' music just doesn't do it for me. Actually I know a good deal of the songs, (I can't help it, quality time with my son includes listening to CD's with him. )..

Debra, you are welcome. I have the same experiences.

A constant diet of CNBC day in and day out really isn't good for our minds. It dulls it. It doesn't matter the content, part of it is the music that they use. Its too repetitive. The commercials are repetitive. At first I enjoyed the fish doing the "Hallelujah Chorus", but then it became too much. Fortunately they pulled it. Recently they have come out of their spawning season and are singing again.

Did you find yourselves giggling at the old ladies into leather in your sleep?

So I have to get a break from that.

I believe that a wonderful investment outside the market are tickets to the symphony for the same reason. Its not good for us and our trading to constantly be staring at a computer screen.

I find it refreshing to see that Jenna does go out to dinner and does spend time with her family and does get away from it. How many of us ever sleep during the market. If we don't take care of our minds, our trading suffers.

There are days when a nap is good. All of this truly goes back to Jenna's post about people like Burjis, Susan, etc who have other vocations as well as being traders. The "real world" contact is important.
