Greg,

Re >servers in the basement<

It will soon be very much like the Star Trek scenario. You will walk into the house, go to any room and say "Computer (or Alice, HAL, C3PO, whatever) portfolio" and a part of the wall, large picture, or mirror will display your portfolio using whatever bookmark you have set. After making a trade by simply saying "Buy a hundred Dell", you go into the game room, sit in the chair in the middle of the room, say "Resume Quake" and every surface... walls, floor, ceiling becomes a single display and you are truly immersed in the game.

Everything will be running on one box, games, television, telephone, internet, radio will all be coming through it. It will bear a Dell logo (at least in my house VBG), maybe IBM, INTC too. It will have at least two connections to the net, probably copper/fiber and wireless.
I don't know what will be inside but it will be different than what is in the current stuff in ways no one has thought of yet. And who will be first to market with every generation? No hints now. ggggg
